Somebody please wake me up from this nightmare....
I traced back my steps, as I had a hunch, that XML loading worked at least partially. Running it on some "old" fglrx drivers (8.35.5) works, but it complains about some texture/memory error...
Upgrading to a the latest version causes the program to crash while looping through the first tick. On the tardis, the same happens, but at least I get a backtrace.

5 days, a few rollbacks and 3 merges later....
I managed to get the crosshair to be moved by the mouse. another hack (I cannot be proud of myself) and the shots are now flying in the designated direction, although the own direction is somewhat in a mess...
