Precision Loss for very large positions in a level
Title explains everything. For very large values of the in-game position all position dependent functions will lose precision (eg. aiming position or spaceship position and other). This in turn leads to a jittery effect. To reproduce the problem, start earth.oxw and use the portal to travel to the M...

Re: Environment ticket - a nebulous concern
Did I say that? Because it's of course available on all major platforms: http://developer.nvidia.com/cg-toolkit-download Well - no. If you're putting it that way, then of course you didn't say it. What I was going for actually, was that Cg was only integrated into Orxonox on Windows currently. ;) C...

Re: Environment ticket - a nebulous concern
Hey Atok, I talked to l33t and x3n, and currently - as x3n mentioned above - Cg is only available on Windows. As far as Ubuntu/Debian is concerned, we have l33t working on it (thank you!) and the OSX integration is my trouble. I've already updated the dependency package, but don't download it yet fo...

Re: Diary of Quarrels: Mac Support
You know, honestly, I would never have imagined it to finally work out! Thank you to all of you, especially 1337 and x3n for their incredible knowledge of the framework!

Diary of Quarrels: Mac Support
Well, first of all: As of March 07 2011, Orxonox has become playable on Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
I will flesh out the journal over the next couple of days, so you will see the progress that has been made in detail.
Cheers

Re: Having a universe that is alive
Solar flares & sun storms: In times of great solar activity we know that unprotected electronics of space equipment can be severely crippled. How about having the player and, needless to say, other ships hide behind larger objects (planets, asteroids or shielded stations) in times of bad solar weath...

Re: Audio in Orxonox: Atmospherics and Sounds
@beni Thanks a lot! That'll give me something to work on this week - not that I don't have anything to do :). Funny that you say, Mars is too quiet (I guess you meant "life-less"), because I felt that Mars was the only sound that portrayed the openness of space. I'll work on the life part of it thou...

Re: Audio in Orxonox: Atmospherics and Sounds
At your command! My request to all: Please give me feedback on the music that I've uploaded! Short explanation to the songs: Earth - Was created with a busy and overpopulated system in mind. Fast Beat and no breaks. Mars - Heavy mining activities and low quality of life due to the harsh climate on t...

Re: Audio in Orxonox: Atmospherics and Sounds
@ogg issues Guess we'll have to look at it on wed. There's not much I can do and the issue makes the sound pretty much not presentable. Anyways: New music! Earth is now done too - plus: I renamed OmikronSystem into AlphaCentauri (I still kinda liked the tune - and it fits nicely for an *alien" syste...

Re: Audio in Orxonox: Atmospherics and Sounds
Wonderful! Thanks for bumping the thread. Would you like me to upload the atmospheric sounds (like rumbles and such) too? @1337 Were you able to get the OGG loader working again? After I converted mainmenu.wav to OGG-Vorbis, I experienced the same problem (snap, crackle and pop where it shouldn't). ...

Re: Audio in Orxonox: Atmospherics and Sounds
i personally don't really like electric sound I will do my absolute best to accommodate most of your wishes ( using moods would give us an elegant solution to this ). Bottom line: I aim to create sound that conveys emotion and creates an authentic atmosphere for the game, regardless of the genre of...

Re: Audio in Orxonox: Atmospherics and Sounds
Earth is the blue planet, most polluted and over populated. ... I'm very surprised to see that there's so much story already worked out. I expected much less to be clear, and - to be honest - I never even heard of a storyline for the Orxonox game. But in that case it's clear what music you're aimin...

Re: Welcome to the Orxonox PPS HS09
Howdy, My name's Kevin Young and I joined the PPS Orxonox to learn more about the innards of a computer game. I'd really enjoy making the sounds that accompany such a space shooter. As far as programming is concerned, I hardly have any experience in coding for a computer game (gui coding is a word o...
