Re: Redesign of Orxonox website
I also experienced some errors. After some time, I am being logged out automatically. I found this post, that describes a similar problem. It states, that PHP is one of the possible causes. In that case, we cannot run the tiki on a personal ee webspace because we cannot modify the php.ini, I think. ...

Re: Redesign of Orxonox website
Hi guys,
I saw that Tiki 7.0 has been declared stable now. So I tried again, same url: http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~felischu/tiki/, pw for admin is my surname again.
At a first glance it looks better. The menu is working and I had login problems only one time in the beginning.
Cheers!

Re: Creative ways to find software bugs
Cool story, I tought of pcb errors because, once did a similar thing. Only I was too impatient so I broke the board apart...
In my case however, it was a soldering problem, not software
. Btw, when will you be back in CH?
Cheers!

Re: Redesign of Orxonox website
Hey, X3n, the problems we encountered with logging in were gone when I tried at home. Unfortunately, the menu is now broken. I might check the bug reports and see if that is a known issue of the beta version. More soon...

Re: Redesign of Orxonox website
Yesterday I was toying arounf a bit with TikiWiki. It seems to be developed very actively. The developers themselves use TikiWiki as a project management platform to develop TikiWiki (though I wonder with what they developed TikiWiki 1.0...). First, I tried the TikiWiki 7 beta version. The install w...

Re: Orxonox color scheme
I have cast the colors into a GIMP palette. The primary colors have black to the left and to the right.
This is the file that goes to .gimp-???/palettes:

Re: Enhancement of the XML connection
hey there, i am very impressed by what the new xml engine will be able to do. the level editor itself is a important step, i think, because it links the the programmer's work with the content designer's work. i recently had a couple of thoughts on how this could be done. one key concept would surely...

Re: Content repository
Why not make it a small XML file while we are at it. It is simple as well and still human readable:
Code: Select all
<info>
<name>whatever</name>
<author>John Doe</author>
<dependency>d1</dependency>
<dependency>d2</dependency>
<dependency>d3</dependency>
</info>

Re: Accurate Atmospheric Scattering
Yes, Blender has a game engine. It has the advantage that you can skip the conversion process with all its complications and directly use the models you just made in your game.

Re: Content repository
Hi guys, I also think that all changes that reduce platform independence are not desirable. Therefore, symbolic links now seem like a bad idea to me (although I liked it at first). My intent is to reduce the amount of textures (and media) we need in general: Reuse generic textures, low poly models, ...

Re: Color schemes
Lavender and Citron FTW!
I like them and I think the webpage and forum would also look nice. And anyway, keep in mind that it is only a color scheme. It does not mean, that every thing must be designed using these two colors.

Another ship with large thrusters. If I change the cockpit into a large bridge it looks like a giant transporter.

Re: WIP-Thread
I did not think about the thrust technology. My intent was to go over my old pirate ship and I indeed thought of the hover back then. The model you see has 55k faces. I will soon post about the face count and Blender modifiers to decimate faces. Oh yes, and I designed the hover parts in a way that t...
