Re: Diary: Masterserver
i think it's a good idea extending the masterserver a bit but using it to download updates directly might be a little bit difficult in order to not conflict with packet management systems and distributions ... but we could for example use it to inform the user about the most recent software version...

Re: Diary: Masterserver
We could also use the master server to check for updates right? Maybe downloading it directly, providing some mirrors and similar. Just an idea that occured to me that I wanted to share.

Re: Orxonox color scheme
Love the nonsensical decoration. We should have different themes of nonsensical decorations. Like Hexagons, these spikes of yours and other forms

Re: Color schemes
I like it a lot.. I'd round up the corners a bit and some nonsensical decoration of borders would be cool (small wheels or just random squares or hexagons or something) the colors are great though. Please let me emphasize that the original purpose of this thread was about the texture of the models a...

Re: Orxonox crashes when in Swallow-TestLevel
Okay I see.. there is not much we can do and hardcoding workarounds is really bad practice. Thanks for elaborating!

Re: Orxonox crashes when in Swallow-TestLevel
Is there a way to avoid such errors? I think a lot of hindrance with the levels is how error prone it is to write a new one. I know we plan to make a level editor, but maybe there are ways to further ease that. Just a suggestion into the blue. I have no idea how it would be possible.

Re: Screen freezes on game start
I don't have the same setup anymore, so it's impossible for me to test that again :(. I agree that it doesn't look good, so I propose that we test the current revisions an a couple of different systems and replace old tests to shorten the length of the table. I agree that this is cheating ^^, but I ...

Re: Color schemes
I'd be very happy with everything you find on Death Space except for the shock moments and the monsters. I have not seen anything unpleasant about this game yet.

Re: Color schemes
So we create a game which pictures the dark future of mankind, where people are struggling to survive on an exahausted planet earth after hundreds of years of pollution and overexploitation, fighting to death in an attempt to catch some food in overpopulated and anarchic colonies on mars, repressed...

Re: Color schemes
so it doesn't really matter to distinguish friend from foe. right, but as we just said before, we can use different concepts (team colors, trails, flares, etc) to distinguish friend from foe. I meant in Diablo. There you just kill everything that moves. It's true that we have different themes there...

Re: Color schemes
Well, I agree that we can use several kinds of systems here to identify. You are exactly right about the humans having different colors for civilian, military and other ships, which is why I also mentioned factions in my first post. Unfortunately this led to some confusion. I'm also no fan of limiti...

Re: Redesign of Orxonox website
Okay I looked at DokuWiki: Pros: It seems to be very easy to maintain. There is a plugin manager and there already exist templates to change it's design. The syntax is similar to MediaWiki which makes the source code of the pages readable. grouping and hierarchy of pages possible Cons: There is no S...

Re: Color schemes
Sorry, I wasn't clear with what I mean. What you are talking about are colors that help identify ships during gameplay. I strictly meant to talk about colors of textures, regardless of team. BadElvis had it right with his first guess. The problem is, that textures from different artists may differ a...

Color schemes
Ben made a suggestion that we define color schemes for spaceships and other models of a certain race or organisation. I really like that as it will give more guidelines for designers to produce models that are fitting for the ones already in existence. Now, I'm not really the color-guy, so I'd like ...
