Good idea, but I don't know how we could achieve it. Python scripts in Blender or random combination of parts mounted by mountpoints? I am open to any suggestion... The idea comes once more form Freelancer, but there you could see how the stations were patched together. We need to do this better! W...

I like your tesseact-generator idea... But it also remind me of a stargate. Meanwhile it also leaves the option open to use timetravel in the story, which is quite interesting, but it causes some serious headache to avoid or cleanly resolve paradoxes. @Lasers: well, that is the normal solution to th...

Strangely enough the error did not reappear on my system - and I access the trac daily. What page are you trying to load? Is it a specific one, or does it appear at random. (I normally access the trac through [https://www.]orxonox.net/timeline) PS: There are some updates lined up for after my exams,...

Concerning the instructor, I also think it should be an UEA employee or this tutorial should be programmed into the ship, since it only takes 5 minutes or so. Debatable... And I like the idea, of having it programmed into the ships computer - this would also give you an explanation why I can be ski...

I sometimes need 2 tries to tell what I meant to tell... I see the main problem if we go too "low tech" that it will be difficult to keep a certain level of realism - and I am in favor of some realism (too much makes it unplayable, or boring) A lot of movies and games work without shields. <snip> Fa...

Yeah, I know it is a little incomplete... I came up with the idea during a chat with BadElvis. I like your story beginning, but I think we cannot use most parts - or at least not that detailed as is like - without a FPS support. Instead of a long introduction - who am I? What Am I? where am I? - I t...

Mission One - or how start a new game

Without having the FPS to introduce the character, or do any big interactions - I some what thought, that for the beginning the player starts directly in the cockpit getting instruction how to behave... but read for yourself. Instructor: OK, listen up Hotshot! I know this is not your first time in s...

Well it segfaults, I have not the time to take care of that right now.

What seems worth looking at is the game/level design - fully xml based - which is exactly what we need to learn.

I will have a closer look at it - it's even in portage!

from the video, it looks more like a scroller, and we are moving more towards a freelancer like gameplay - what ever that means..

If you had asked me last weekend, I would have confirmed the error - but every since, it did not reappear. What cause the original error - not absolutely sure, but my best guess: The weekend before, I installed logrotate in order to reduce disk usage - 2GB of apache logfiles ist just to much. Instal...

I would have to ask a friend one mine... He has one here in switzerland, and is quite happy - especially about the service.

@nowic: just 33GB per day, that should be doable ;)

cheers

What I meant by staying independent: Don't make ourselves dependent on one single person, if we can do it with a group.
Sure, we will always have some sort of dependence...

and yes, nautilus needs some fixing - another solution.

Still I would not rent a server until the game is playable and use a ETH-server for testing purposes (if possible). ACK, I don't really see a point in using a dedicated server, if we are still trouble-shooting, and trying to get this thing working. OTOH, I would prefer, if we had our own server - n...
