Hi guys
I have some ideas:
Weapons
- Another laser fed by an energy buffer which can maintain the beam up to - don't know - 2 sec?
- Guided missiles
- Proximity mines
- Antimatter gun / thrower
- Graviton gun (to sqeeze the enemy vehicles by the impact of gravitational waves )
Vehicles
I want a flying saucer!
Other features
Some relativistic effects.
Perheaps a level where a big ship is escorted and some objects are passing with near lightspeed.
Or a canyon level where the action takes place with high speed
relative to the canyon.
Or just an intro sequence, where the noxons enter our solar system.
I thought of something like
http://lightspeed.sourceforge.net/
(Gentoo: emerge lightspeed)
But perheaps this goes too far! Just a thought!

I like the lightspeed idea and checked out the effects they show on the paged you linked to. Interesting, we should take a look if the effect is useful for our game.
We do have guided missiles already, but we could make them cooler.
And yes: We definitely need more weapons of any kind. Thanks again for the ideas.

I especially like the idea of long laser beams. They really rock. Also some fancy rocket with trailing smog and so on...
We can make this thread into a weapon systems thread, where everyone can suggest new, cool weapons.
- - Lasers (beams) all sorts of colors
- Many, many rockets (auto aiming)
- Projectile guns
- Plasma guns
I'm sure I will find some more guns later

- Railgun
Railguns are very common in SciFi games. They have a scope that allows you to see through walls and they shoot their projectiles so fast that they can penetrate walls to a certain extent. I suggest that railguns should only be available in single player mode and should be very hard to get.

I've watched "The Chronicles of Riddick" the other day (the movie, not the game).
I wasn't really paying attention to the movie and the story, but I loved the weapons of the Necromongers:
A blue ray with a width of about a hand. The air around the ray gets distracted and the objects behind the ray get distorted for a about half a second. When the ray hits, the target gets blown away furiously.
It might be similar to this graviton gun, wipp already wished for.

Loads of nice ideas...
But I think we will start simple with a few simple blasters and one missile type
...see here
The rest will be taken into consideration or could be used as Noxon weapons...
BTW: Is there somewhere a tech list around, which contains what should/will be available. I am especially interested in Shields, Powersources (Fusion, AM), Engines (Iondrive, FTL?)
cheers

You talk about story elements I think. There should be (still the old version) a technology page in the wiki:
see here. I think I covered up a lot of stuff there we need.
