Forum has been moved to new server

Post by beni » Mon Nov 25, 2013 4:54 pm

If you read this you are using the forum on our new server. As you can see in the address field of your browser we currently simply redirect you to the new server URL. Of course this will be done a bit nicer after we fully moved.

forum.orxonox.net still works, but will redirect you. The old forum still exists, but hopefully only accessible via IP address.

I noticed some avatars and smilies don't work properly. Reuploading the avatar works well. I'll try to fix the smilies soon.

If other errors occur, please let me know. It's possible your cookies are acting crazy and obviously https will use a temporary self-signed certificate at the moment.

It's called a data base and a backup. That's how I know ;)

I just fixed the cookies. The domain had to be set properly, since with the redirect the domain changes.

:-) Looks good so far.
The website seems to be more responsive.
Though the smiley's have lost their sharpness.

Hey everybody

So I have applied some more fixes for the Forum. This is what I've done:

Problem 1: Registering new users didn't work (thanks to muemart for reporting this).
Cause: This was due to the style being outdated for the newest phpBB3 version. The Captcha didn't show up.
Solution: I applied a new updated style. Unfortunately the orange version was no longer available so I used the original version which is in blue. This has also resulted in the forum being wider than we are used to. If you want to change that back, I think that should be possible. It's a simple change in the CSS I think.

Problem2: Emoticons look bad and not all of them are working anymore.
Cause: This was due to a change of file names for emoticon icons.
Solution: I have applied changes to the default emoticon configuration. It's easy, there is a GUI for it in the Admin Control Panel.

Please enjoy the new forum!

Since VSETH killed the last new server we didn't have a forum for a while. Now we have a new new server which is the same than the old new server, but without the gaping security holes.

Anyway, here's the forum. We're going to move all of our Orxonox tools from the old to the new server in a while. Also some tools will be replaced with other ones. We're going to try out new things to improve the workflow.

Sorry again for the delay, it actually wasn't a lot of work.

It took us a while to find a new flux capacitor, but once we got it the forum was back in no time
