I wanted to make a post about the a webpage, with a model/picture viewer, where the users get the possibility to look through the models of Orxonox, and downloading it.

Now this would go to the webpage site, or better even, to the "Orxonox representation" forum, but I did not find it.

So I wanted to make this post to the misc section... hmm.. but I did not find this either...

What do you think about a new section/forum Miscellaneous for such things??

I think it's a good idea to make our content better to access for the public.
I guess you don't think about a built in 3D-Engine to check out the models, right ;-). So we can make some screenshots and a good presentation of them.

Exactly, I thought that with each model, we could just save a screenshot with the same name (but the .jpg extension :) ).
Then we could make a browser to see through all the cool models.

This would be cool for the public, but also for all world creators, because like this, one gets a quick impression, on what an entity looks like.

Interesting idea...

I am for the screenshot gallery, and keep the model part restricted, at least for the moment. Or at least for the working models (been built that is).

cheers

You are right. Unfinished models should not be in the model-gallery.
But unfinished models anyways should not be in the Orxonox::Data::Trunk, and so the problem would be negligible.

The models are only parsed in

http://svn.orxonox.net/data/models

and all still unfinished models in there will not get any screenshot, and thus are not displayed within this screenshot area.

Maybe I find the time over Christmas break to write a PHP-script, that parses this :).

I think it's a nice idea to have an overview over all the finished models. I would also go for the screenshot gallery of the models.

Of course I'm voting for this advanced gallery but I certainly won't have any time to implement it. So what do we do with the poll result? Does someone have time and knowledge to implement it? If so, this would realy be cool!
And what sort of viewer are you thinking of, I found some examples here:

Did not think of a Model gallery with attributes, but rather with a screenshot, but might be cool, to have both :)
