Does anyone of you know the Open TNL Network Library? I just found this site and thought it might be something for us.. haven't yet had the time to read through its documentation, but I will do soon..

I've never heard about TNL, but it sounds really cool. Maybe it's exactly what we need. :)

Never heard of TNL, but Torque sounded somewhat familiar...
I am pretty sure that TNL is a torque engine related preoject. It might be worth checking out.

I had a little chat with Marc...
Torque is built around TNL, and NTL itself is a pretty powerful library - it can even handle MMO if needed.

eNet or RakNet seem to be also quite good alternative to be checked out...

During the last days Dumeni and I had a look and tried out a lot of different possibilities for the network engine.
- With raknet there are licence issues.
- OpenTNL seems somehow not really well documented, and respectively the tutorial doesn't compile with the current version. Furthermore, as of my opinion, it is too complicated for our needs.
At the moment I'm giving enet a try.

I appreciate your efforts with this inconvenient topic :)
I hope you'll succeed soon in finding an appropriate library.

I hope the Practical Socket Library Bensch suggested turns out to be practical.

changed my opinion about opentnl ;)
(managed to get the tutorial working now)

seems to be really powerfull and high-level. would probably provide all the functions we need, but needs a lot of time to get into it...

I somewhat feared that: Powerful, but complex.

I hope you (we) can make this working...

I think it is probably not worth it for our needs. Enet provides all we need for basic stuff and I would suggest to take another library for compression/diff. It's probably not worth digging into that. Enet is much easier and we do not lose any important features by using it.
