Maybe we should just download the newest version instead of upgrading. Like this we may get rid of some bugs we have now. The database is of course not touched then.

Abandoning https is not a big problem. The reason we used encrypted http is because of the wiki login. Let's talk about this on our meeting.

Some input for now, more to come:

+1 item to talk about: http/https on trac wiki
+1 item: what content, what style
+1 item: porting page to wiki or use a self-made php/html site
+1 item: how to setup a dynamic, working news system
+1 item: how to keep screenshots up-to-date
+1 item: orxonox download button, how do we package orxonox (fast solution)
+1 item: who will be working on what topics

Everyone participating: please post your top 3 webpages (urls) that show how Orxonox could/should look like (please be realistic :D). Please comment your propositions (why you like it, what you would learn/use from it).

My opinion on web pages in general: simple is beautiful! (and usable) Most pages on the net are crap and I would prefer if they would offer a text dump of the whole page which I could grep.

The orxonox page needs some stars in the background, a nice header (the current one is fine) and one horizontal menu. Style: Centered, fixed width, dark backgound, bright font colour. (like our forum theme)

The content of the front page:
* some sentences about the project and the current status.
* one sentence about the latest release and how you can get it.
* one sentence about contributing and reporting bugs (how and where).
* a news feed (links or the entire posts).
* maybe one screenshot.

The menu items:
* home (or similar, to return to the front page)
* about (story, technology, license, authors)
* screenshots (the first page I'm looking for on a game web site)
* download (the second page I visit)
* development (where we place our current dev.wiki content)
* forum (a link to the forum)

That's enough.

Three similar examples:
* http://pidgin.im/
* http://www.listen-project.org/
* http://www.blender.org/

Yes, I'm a GNOME fan :P

I must say that I'm a fan of the "border less" design we can observe in the first and second example from Nowic. I'm talking about the style that everything flows together and the whole thing looks like one piece.
Big shiny download button from pidgin is cool too.

I notice right now, that I'm not visiting beautiful pages :(

When is a good question. I think Hofzge's place is accepted by everyone. Let's say between 19:00 and 20:00.

Ah.. and I can't come earlier than 20:15 (sharp). I don't really need to participate with the event, so feel free to start earlier, but let me know.

I'll arrive at 20:00 @ Oerlikon.

A link that we will need:
http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/TracInter ... tomization

"Since release 0.11, Trac is using Genshi as the templating engine."... maybe we should update.

maybe useful too:

My little brother already designed a first version of the header. There is also a first version of the download button, but I didn't upload it yet.
But have a look on the webpage so far. Of course he just took a piece of the wiki and made a similar header like the pidgin website. But what do you guys say? Any changes you want to apply? Say it now and I'll forward it to my brother.

Ok, here is the resumee of our evening together:

* Update trac to newest version / Make a new trac cooperating with the old trac / New DNS address -> paedu
* Ask other similar pages as Listen for their trac template -> hofzge
* Write a new Orxonox template -> nowic
* Implement an automatic newsticker (diff)
* Get new design and download picture from seni's brother -> beni

Things to do before Thinktank:

* Get Crystalspace and Ogre to work on Unix and Windows
* Get Eclipse to work with different frameworks
* Open / Include a .bsp level from Orxonox
* collect howto documents on getting started with different frameworks

Things to do before PPS:

* Decide on a new build system, which can be somewhow understood (cmake, gmake)

Hofzge: Thanks for the resume.

Beni: The new style looks amazing! Your little brother did a very good job! I will update trac today or tomorrow.
After the update it's possible, that trac won't work anymore... so don't be surprised if trac will be gone for some days... :mrgreen:
