COLLADA Support

Post by beni » Tue Oct 16, 2007 8:41 pm

I request COLLADA support for Orxonox. There is a Plugin for Ogre, but it is about a year old. I'm not sure if there is a newer version around and by who else it is distributed than Ogre itself.
Not all COLLADA features are included in the Ogre Plugin unfortunately. Find out more about it in the Link given above.

COLLADA is a free scene format supported by all big and not so big modeling editors out there. It's a collaborate work of all the big 3D firms. Also the Blender community helped developing it. It is a XML-based format and supports a lot more features than OBJ does.

Find more about COLLADA on Patrick's modeling page.

Hi, thats a good idea! No thats the best idea :)

I'd love to write the Collada importer, but since I'm pretty busy with other stupid assignments (stupid university system here at U of T ;-)) I'm not so sure I'd be able to do that in time. I guess it should be working not later than by the end of this term.
You could also ask Chrigi, he already wrote a Collada importer for his own project.
