You're right, but the media repository is ~100mb large and it will grow up even more. Every branch would rapidly increase the disk usage on the server (you know: everything can be reverted). That's why I think we shouldn't make too much new branches - only in cases where someone really changes much in the media repository. If I'm doing a core branch, I simply don't update my media checkout until I merge back.

However: A new branch/tag takes a few KB, so it doesn't matter at all..
