hs-w01 causes fps drop of about 50%

when doing investigations in lod i came across some things relating to the hs-w01:
- (as written in the title) it causes a major performance drop
- it has the same amount of faces as the assff and half the #of vertices. this is crucial, as it's 4 times attached on each spaceship
- even when using lod i could not reduce this effect a lot. this could also be due to shadows (maybe they don't really work with lod)

i decided to remove the model of the hs-w01 and open this bug report, as i'm probably not the right one to look into this

maybe there are some double faces or overlapping faces which causes some algorithm to converge much slower.

but i think its also due to the vast amount of vertices and faces (as i wrote before the same order as a spaceship)

maybe someone familiar with blender could look into this ?

i doubt it's only the amount of faces. compared to other games, the amount of faces in orxonox is neglectable.

hm... maybe your're right ...
we should maybe look into other ogre games and check whether they have better performance and (if they're opensource) look what they do different

I happen to have some Ogre games on my computer, but I didn't check the fps counter. I can do that soon.
