WIP-Thread

Post by Hagen » Mon Mar 16, 2009 8:28 pm

Every content creation Forum needs this: A "work in progress"-thread (WIP) where anyone can post pictures of what he's currently working on, no matter in what stage it is.

About me: I'm a 2nd semester PPS student and I began today with a weapon model which currently looks like this:

Be sure to make the ammunition to be hollow bullets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8XcVc_0ykU

Looks nice already. I can see where you're getting at with it.

looks nice indeed! feel free to add a little more 'roundness', our polygon limit is not that low...

Hehe, sure. Only two things: the Model will probably be quite small ingame and also I'dont yet know, how the weapon will look like at the end... But of course I'm Still working on it ;)

Well, you don't seem to really use my thread^^
I'll just post another image:

Image

It's a big space-ship or more of a space-station.
Aldough I have to say, that I don't yet know if I'm going to finish this one, because this spaceship should be about 100 or 200 meters long, so there would be quite some details to add (Currently ca 700 polys, I think for a this large ship I could use about 10k), and I don't even want to talk about texturing Image

Your right, our modelers don't post their things in here... we should change that, but it's too late for this semester.

I really like your ship, although I think there is room for improvement. Since we do not have many large ships at the moment I'd be very much interested in getting one. Maybe you can consult with us for ideas to improve the ship. I like especially the turning wheels there.

Wow, looks great

But you're right, texturing will be a hard piece of work. I think the new multitexturing approach of Felix could be handy, this allows us to create 1 texture (or more) for the wheels, 1 for the sails, 1 for the bridge and so on. :)

The turning wheel rocks, artificial gravity ftw :D

+1 for realistic artificial gravity :D

Since the wheels will be separate objects anyway, it is quite manifest to use different textures.

looks cool :beerchug:

maybe you just have to be carefull that it won't look bulky in the end (after texturing) except if that's what you intend ;)

Hmm, now that I look at it again, the wings could be a little smaller I guess
