I expect a Google Summer of Code 2008. If you are interested in this project please see Google Summer of Code 2007. There are highly motivated students and a small payment involved.

Perhaps Orxonox wants to participate in this event?

Well the question is, if our project is appropriate for the summer of code. I had a quick look at your link and it looks like a mentoring organization is required, so there has to be an organization interested in our project.
Also it looks like only one student at a time can propose a project idea, rather than many people working on an existing project.
Please correct me if I completely get it all wrong.
Basically I think it's a good suggestion to make the project grow larger and faster during summer.

BZFlag did also manage to participate

according to the FAQ:
Mentor organizations must be organizations or individuals running an active and viable open source or free software project whose applications are approved by Google's Open Source Program Office.

So: A mentoring organization may be Orxonox itself. No need for another hierarchy.

But sure, the chances to be accepted are not that high since Orxonox has no user base yet... But you never know until you try...

I see. I was speculating if you meant to participate as a mentor organization. I like the idea and support it. :) This is going to be rather interesting in my believe.
