Some weeks ago I watched some movies from the Blender Convention 2006. Two of them are especially worth mentioning... for those who are interested.

Blender as a Game Developement Environment:
Creating games using Blender and Crystalspace by Pablo Martin and Amir Taaki.

They created a Blender plugin for the Crystal Space 3D engine. They use Blender as level editor and modeling tool. You can write and assign scripts to your model or define physic parameters (ODE). With one click you can test your model or level inside the engine... and other fancy things. :)

or an ugly version from google video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 6011&hl=en

Scientific uses of Blender:
3D Modeling Fly Brains: Biologists Use Blender as a Tool by Albert Cardona (US/CH).
This project is a coorporation with scientists from ETHZ!

The torrents are nearly dead... so be patient.
